Installing flooring requires the entire room to be empty. It is not possible to install flooring while any furniture is in the room. Furniture moving may be selected by-the-room from Lowe's at the time of purchase. This includes moving 4-6 average sized pieces. Cabinets, sleeper sofas, and other large pieces may incur additional charges.
Closets do not need to be completely empty, but they have to be clear to about 4 ft off the floor and any low hanging or loose items should be moved to give our installers room to work.
Even with purchased furniture moves, you must move all electronics, boxes, plants, toys, personal items, exercise equipment, pianos and other musical equipment, antiques, bedding, clothing, and knick-knacks. We cannot pack anything up for you. We move the pieces of furniture themselves, not the things on the furniture.
You are also responsible for disassembling beds and other large pieces in need of disassembly including dressers with attached mirrors. You don't have to completely empty dressers and drawers, but please be aware that if the dresser is too heavy for two people to move, we may have to take those drawers out. Sometimes, people are sensitive about that.
You must remove any areas of existing flooring soiled by pets. You are also expected to confine pets during installation. We wouldn't want any of them to escape!
For hard surface installation, an area must be provided for the installer to set up their saws, in an area protected from weather like a garage or covered porch.
Please also ensure that there is running HVAC and electricity in the home. That may sound silly if you live there, but sometimes we are surprised when we show up!
Any other specific things required of you should be clear on the information you get from Lowe's. Please contact your Lowe's flooring specialist or ask us using the chat box below if you have any questions.
