Steps to Take Before Your Installation
- There must be an adult (18+) present at the time of installation.
- Electricity must be available.
- Room temperature of the home will need to be between 68-72 degrees prior to the install.
- Decide in advance if you want to take responsibility for moving furniture or if you would like the installer to take care of this for you. Your installer will remove specific items if they are included in your contract and the service has been paid for at Lowe's.
- Be sure any breakables, electronics, small items, and valuables are removed from the job sight and moved to a safe location
- Remove any items from book cases, entertainment stands, closets, and pictures or artwork hanging on the wall where the work is being done.
- Disconnect appliances and unplug devices from outlets.
- Toilets removed prior to installation if located on the job site.
- For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the installation area.
- Ensure pets are in a secured area of the home.
- Please provide the installer with a clean and dry area to work in. If you have had any moisture/water in the areas being installed, please notify the installer.
- Any new unfinished quarter round base covering that you are providing should be stained or painted at least 24 hours prior to installation.
What to Expect
- Your installer will take every precaution to prevent scuffing your baseboards and walls. However, depending on the circumstances of your particular installation, you may need to do some paint touch ups after installation is complete.
- Minor dust accumulation may occur. You may want to provide plastic sheeting and tape to block off other rooms from the dust and shut off all central heating/cooling.
- Your new floor may be thicker than your existing floor. This could lead to issues with doors fitting back properly. Be prepared to have to trim doors down post installation.
- There may be exposed ends of quarter round that need to be touched up after installation.
- We will not be able to tell if a subfloor is flat until the original material has been removed.
- Changes or unforeseen conditions may occur adding additional costs and work.
- Immediately begin proper care and maintenance following your flooring installation as laid out by the manufacturer.
- Read the product warranty provided by the manufacturer or Lowe’s.
