For most stores we service, if delivery and installation are purchased together, Ultimate Home Services will either deliver flooring installation materials early or bring them on installation day.
For stores that require Lowe’s deliveries, the Lowe's Installed Sales Team schedules delivery of your flooring installation materials after confirming your installation date. Hard surface flooring must be placed inside the home, preferably in the installation room, for proper acclimation—not in the garage. If materials aren’t placed correctly, please contact your local Lowe’s store.
The delivery method is normally indicated on the contract and will be confirmed at time of scheduling.
Why Acclimation Matters
You may hear the term “acclimation” often—it allows flooring to adjust to your home’s temperature and humidity. Without it, boards may warp or gap. Most products need a few days; some require weeks.
Your Lowe’s Flooring Specialist can provide specific guidance based on your product. You can also check the manufacturer’s instructions on the product packaging or website.
Pro Tip: Always ensure materials are placed inside the home, in the room of installation. Garages are not suitable for acclimation. If materials are not properly placed, installation will need to be rescheduled.
Delivery Details by Product Type
- Hard surface flooring (wood, laminate, vinyl plank, tile): Acclimation varies based on product, and delivery method will be confirmed at time of scheduling.
- Carpet and padding: Delivered by the installer on the day of installation.
- Backsplashes do not require an acclimation and handling fee to be picked up from the store on the day of install.
You’ll work with your Lowe’s Flooring Specialist to decide whether to pick up materials at the store or have them delivered. Regardless of the method, materials must be on-site and properly acclimated before installation—otherwise, we’ll need to reschedule.

Is there a way to request a certain person for install? We had carpet install done in December and was really pleased with the outcome.
