Carpet and Pets
Carpet can be a good choice for pet owners—especially when pets are well-groomed and accidents are cleaned promptly. Many manufacturers offer stain- and odor-resistant carpet and padding, which we highly recommend. Be sure to discuss your pet’s habits with your Lowe’s Flooring Specialist to find the most durable option.
- Cut Pile vs. Looped Pile
For homes with pets, cut pile carpet is preferred. Looped pile styles (like Berber) can catch on claws, leading to snags or pulled yarn, and may tempt pets to chew.
Hard Surface Alternatives
If your pets are particularly active or destructive, consider tile or vinyl plank flooring. These hard surfaces are durable, easy to clean, and less likely to be damaged by pets.
