Will my doors open the same after new flooring is installed?
This can be a concern if the height of your new flooring differs from your old flooring. Unfortunately, this is not something we can predict during your initial measurement, as the final flooring thickness depends on the specific product you choose.
If a clearance issue arises during installation, your installer will notify you. In some cases, doors may need to be trimmed to accommodate the new flooring height.
Can Lowe’s installers cut down doors?
Not all Lowe’s installers are able to cut doors. Door trimming is typically a job for a trim carpenter, not a flooring installer. Lowe’s will inform you whether door cutting is available at your location or if you’ll need to hire an outside professional.
Important: Lowe’s installers are not permitted to cut the following types of doors:
- Exterior doors
- Metal doors
- Bi-fold doors
- Hollow core doors
If trimming is needed and not offered by your Lowe’s location, a quick online search for “carpenters near me” can help you find a qualified professional.
What happens if I remove my doors before installation?
If doors are removed prior to installation, please note that our installers will not reinstall them. Installers will only attempt to reinstall doors they themselves removed, and only if it is feasible.
