Installing carpet may result in minor drywall damage and paint scuffing. Our installers will do everything within their power to limit damage to drywall and trim. Damage can be minimized by leaving plenty of time for new paint to harden before scheduling your install. The homeowner should expect to do some touch-up after the install.
There are times when improper framing techniques leave unsupported drywall in critical areas along the floor or in wall corners. Examples are: Drywall bridging over a gap in the sill plate; room corners lacking a stud on both corner edges; and Sill plates not fastened to the floor. The risk of damage is exaggerated when base trim is not installed prior to the carpet install. When stretching carpet, the tail of the stretcher pushes against the base of the wall to achieve proper stretch. If the drywall is unsupported or improperly installed, some cracking or even significant damage can occur. The homeowner will be responsible for this repair.
If you suspect improper framing in your room, please let our installers know about it prior to installation. You can even tape a note to the wall location for the installers as a reminder!
