We often get asked whether we can install flooring in places like RVs, boats, trailers, buses, and similar spaces. The short answer is: No, we cannot.
Why Not?
Per Lowe’s Scope of Work, flooring installations must take place in areas with fixed, year-round climate control. This means:
- ✅ Mobile homes (with HVAC) are okay
- ❌ Motor homes, RVs, and boats are not
If the space moves or lacks permanent heating and cooling, we cannot install flooring there.
What About Covered Outdoor Areas?
Even if a space is covered—like a sunroom, porch, or Florida room—we still cannot install flooring unless it has true HVAC. A ceiling fan or space heater doesn’t count. The area must be climate controlled all year long.
What If the Product Is Rated for Uncontrolled Environments?
Some products, like Smartcore Pro, are designed for use in areas without climate control. However, Lowe’s installers are not permitted to install flooring in those environments, even if the product itself is rated for it. Customers may choose to install it themselves, but Lowe’s cannot perform the installation.
Important Reminder for Associates
When qualifying a customer, always ask about HVAC. If the space doesn’t have fixed climate control, we cannot proceed with scheduling a detail or installation.
